Kawartha Lakes STEAM Education, Activities & Camps
Pinnguaq’s Makerspace in Lindsay is the hub for STEAM education, summer camps, after school programs and more in the Kawartha Lakes. It’s filled with robots, maker kits, oozing oobleck, Minecraft marvels and some of the best STEAM educators in Canada.
Why do we have a Makerspace? And why is it in Lindsay? Well… why not? We believe that rural and remote youth should have the same access to world-class technology and education that those in urban centres enjoy. Geography shouldn’t be a barrier, and curiosity should be the only requirement.
Space is limited. Be notified first when new activities and education opportunities are happening in the Lindsay Makerspace.

STEAM Discovery Days
Saturday Drop-In, Year Round • It’s not a class, it’s an adventure — stop by the Lindsay Makerspace on Saturdays throughout the year and discover science, technology, engineering and math experiences for youth aged 6–13. STEAM Skill Builds
After School, Fall Programming • Youth aged 6–13 can launch rockets, create video games, program robots to clean their rooms and conduct scientific experiments that may or may not involve things exploding. After-school Skill Build Classes are held on the same day each week, typically for five weeks, and last for 90 minutes each. Participants develop new science, technology, engineering, art or math skills, within their area of interest.

STEAM Makerspace Visits
Pinnguaq’s Lindsay Makerspace regularly hosts K–12 class trips and outings from schools, as well as other organizations throughout the Kawartha Lakes. We work with our educator partners to create a customized itinerary for the day that matches your learning outcomes and curriculum, and we’re more than happy to offer support and accommodation for visitors that may require it.

STEAM School & Partner Visits
The STEAM Travel Team and Maker Kit squad are seen regularly at schools, libraries and partner organizations throughout the Kawartha Lakes region (and beyond — we go where the learning takes us).
